Castle Caribbean Carnivale Rocked in many many many ways
Great music, costumes that would blow your mind (yes, even a D*Conner's mind!), fire dancers, banana eating contest that didn't make me want to wretch, the grounds themselves which are astounding, just non-stop stimulation at every turn -- want a goth club -- it's there, want something a bit more hip-hoppy/break-beats -- its there ....Jam band, yup, pirates, royals, pubs, dance club, -- yup yup yup, and then more.
Frankly, the carnivale events there are definitely the best -- currently ongoing event, that I know of in this state. Simply WOW...not sure what else there is to say

* Castle Caribbean Carnevale (http://www.castlemcculloch.com/festivals.asp?id=22) tomorrow night -- kick ass!
* Life in brewland -- ups and downs. The Down: The Container ALL of the saki was in sprung a leak. It's gone. All of it. Shot. .... on the other hand, the Cervesa style beer I made, which originally was NOT good when I bottled it, after a few months to mellow, I declare to be the second best beer I have ever made!!!! Was a bit worried about serving that one at the wedding to begin with!

* Kick ass -- there's a TV series, Legend of the Seeker (www.legendoftheseeker.com) based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth Series
* Ug -- worked endless hours, then had stress dreams till I gave up sleeping around 5
* Bummer bout dead Ted Kennedy -- he was an impressive human being
* Logged on to MySpace after 2 months ....and hadn't missed anything ....not sure why I keep the account. LJ is heading that way too with only a few left using that in lieu of Facebook
* Wan't to get Batman Arkham Asylum ( http://www.batmanarkhamasylum.com/start) -- looks like a lot of fun...and I've got a lot of games I have zero interest in ...frankly, other than Plants Vs Zombies, and Crayon Physics, I'm rather underwhelmed by the offerings out there now
* Oops -- missed the last Bee-Keeper meetup ..... not sure if I'll have time for it till November either way |

* Home, work, and all around, have a little bit too much on my plate and it is starting to drive me a bit wonky
* Worked through much of the weekend, likely to do the same again this one ... all work and no play makes Steve bat-shit crazy
* Kinda wish I coulda hit the con in Fla last week, and even go to Dragon*Con ...life chaos doesn't currently allow for that though

- - Two of my favorite peeps "Evah" ...now blissfully married -- finally -- congrats freeinbondage & Mellow!!
- - Had a great time @ shannontabbycat & stan_42_'s 20th wedding anniversary dinner (and special thanks to Shannon for saving my ass making labels and her MS Office guru-ness!)
- - Bottled the Winter beer, started on labels, and am at this moment brewing the Irish Red, spiced with basil & catnip
- - After this Irish Red is finished, FINALLY DONE with ALL wedding brewing until November (unless I decide to add anohter Wine)! Woo hoo! Then, I will be making a Braggot
- - Finished another round of Plants Versus Zombies -- thinking of spending the money on Crayon Physics ...though holy crap I'm jealous about some Scribblenauts on the DS
- - Back is a little better -- the meds the doc gave me seem to help, though holy crap -- no way I can take Flexoril on a work night -- BOING!
- - Other than that, Sarah has her ring, and dress should be in this week, my ring is STILL a bit too small, hopefully hanging with Keith and Tessa next weekend and boom -- doin' it all over again. At least I had time for Sonic, games, brewing, and being a mindless zombie today ...that was nice

* Got a massage last night in hopes of helping with back. Only woke up twice, and that was from pain, not specifically spasms ..so was a little help ... still going to the Docs in a bit
* Tonight -- no workout likely...dammit ...as it is REALLY needed, but need to be able to function as a human being. Stupid stuff. So, chillin' I suppose ....*grumble*
* Tomorrow -- all domestic like with Lawn Mowing and ceiling fan installing. Evening dinner plans. Likely early night.
* Sunday -- brew maintenence (shocker ...I know) :-P

* Back spasm again this AM -- may not go to the brew meetup if this doesn't get better. The irony is that I screwed my back up moving carboys I was using for brewing. Dumb-dumb-dumb
* Had a great time with the gamers last night despite being virtually vapid from sleep dep
* I worry sometimes that when I'm sharing life experiences that it may sound false or overly exagerated -- it's been a good ride, but nothing excessively exemplary (Like SOME people -- *looks at roonie)
* Urg -- my mortgage company charged me TWICE this month -- wtf -- 2 mortgage payments? I have everything else on auto-draft so that screws things up -- they said it would take 30 days to get the $$ back in -- raised hell, sent letters, faxes, everything they said I could to to expidite things -- REALLY hope this gets worked out -- cause damn -- that's a whole lotta suck :-/

Overall, not a bad weekend. Friday was more of less of a recoup evening. Saturday, meade day which was, well, kinda dissapointing -- it'll be more fun next year when I have my own meade to contribute. Ended up catching up with some good peeps at the Burlesque show later that night -- and it was nice to get the socialness goin' on instead of constant woooooooooork.
Sunday, pretty much a "brew geek" all day -- Bottled Wine. Bottle Meade. Transferred beer, just a lot of maintenence, and unfortunately didnt get a chance to make the beer I was hoping to. Though, joined a few new groups with some potential (leaving intentionally vague)
Oh -- and as I posted on FaceBook, looks like I'll be becoming a bee keeper early next year.
This week, hopefully won't have the extreme burn-out that last couple of work-weeks have caused me. Tonight, workout and hopefully beer making. Tomorrow, gaming. Weds Brew club meetup.
Anyone been out to La Fortress before -- and have any opinions on it? |

* Ug -- work week has taken a bite out of my soul and I'm exhausted -- early on in the week was mulling having a huzzah today, but the physical *NEED* is downtime ...
* Semi related to the first thing, my sleep meds can't be refilled until next month -- which on the one hand sucks, but on the other, I have a damned great doctor who has my well being best interest in mind, so I cant fault `em
* So, tonight, instead I'm gonna grab Pho, watch bad movies, and likely pop open the Reisling I made a while back and see how it is w/ the Glenna
* Tomorrow can pretty much be summed up with "I'm doin' Shtuff" --> Going to the brew store for a new carboy, hopefully retreiving my armor that I lent out for the final Purgatory, finally making the blueberry meade, traferring the Cherry-Almond wine to a new carboy, maybe making the final beer if I have time, and changing out ceiling fans. Hit me up if ya want to tag along, or have better options ;) |

- Quite a work-week...getting late night calls and burned out -- really starting to need a rest
- What's goin' on Saturday in this town?
- If nothing comes up this weekend, I'll hit the brew store, finally get around to making that blueberry meade, and to some maintenence on the wine (and maybe even make "The Final Beer") ...as well as other domestic like stuff of changing out ceiling fans
- Rejoice, for today marks 3 days without cat hork
- I like rain -- it's cool to look at storms like last night, plus it slowed the traffic to the meth dealer across the street last night (or she was out) |

* Stayed in an NC Vineyard cabin ( http://www.rockhillvineyards.com/) for the past few days
* Managed to hit the Floyd Fandango Beer & Wine Festival
* Hit FOUR wineries in a day (Here, Here, Here, and Here)
* Picked up enough bottles of wine that room needed to be made to store them for company in the future. As soon as that was done, got a phone call that we won 2 more bottles of wine (no mas por favor!!!)
* Had the best: Fried Oyster Po' boy, fried pickles, and roast duck that I've ever had in my life
...stupidly spent, but happy |

So beat.
2 Trips to god-forsaken Walmart. Transferred the Cabernet to another carboy ...overflowed and had to clean up wine everywhere. Made another mead ..honey everywhere. Made an Almond/Cherry wine (kinda like Amaretto-light) ...raisen goop everywhere. 8 hours later ....done. Cripes what a busy exhausting day!
Soon....there shall be steak. |

So beat from lack of sleep on top if it being stupidly hot, but very happy.
Been runnin' around w/ Sarah all morning -- haircuts and brew store.
Have all the ingredients I need to make a Rose Hips & Grains of Paradise mead using Brazillian Pepper Honey
Going to get the final indedients tomorrow to make an Almond wine specifically for winter gifts
Need to figure out how to put cool stuff on the beer and wine labels we got
Next week I'll start on my Blueberry mead using Mesquite honey
Hopefully while doing the exotic cabin-on-a-vinyard and wine-tour getaway for the 4th o' July weekend, I'll find the FINAL honey I need so that I can make my Thai Birds-eye hot-pepper based mead.
(After all that, still have a single beer to make....then a year before the 3 new meads are COMPLETELY ready.
Now for friends, indian food, and blood-splattered musicals! |

- I'm part of the "it's a shame about M.J. death" camp -- as weird of a dude as he was, he was a musical innovator, and his music brought a lot of joy to an otherwise oft bleak childhood. That's my statement on that
- *VERY* stoked -- finally ordered some Mesquite Honey and BlueBerry juice for my up coming mead (and in a mere year, it'll be ready to drink!)
- VERY Excited about the Evil Dead Musical bit on Saturday
- Zoo trip on sunday for a b-day thang
...other than that, looking to get away to Lake Lure/Black Mountain/Asheville are for 4th o' July weekend ...but having a hard time finding good lodging this late in the game. |

Went to a very classy wedding last night, met some really excellent people, and overall had an unexpectedly good time. Always a big fan of meeting new people! Though, nearly 100 degrees *AND* having to wear a jacket `bout killed me. Yay hydration.
Getting itchy to make another batch of MEAD!!! ...it shall occur, and likely sooner, rather than later! Wish I had someone local more knowledgeable than me about brewing/wine-making/mead/etc -- so many questions, and difficult to get answers! (Too, need to find a local Apiary ...was thinking of starting my own bee colony, but at $299 just to START, that's a bit high for things right now...)
Life-- crazy busy! Lookin' forward to catching Evil Dead the Musical next weekend with new friends
... stoked too that I'm being given a smoker too!!! |

Worked, came home to kick arse chicken Caesar Salad, and fun-ness. Watched documentaries, played about 15 min of Prototype (awesome! -- I am totally going to take a mental health day in the next few weeks, and this will be my 10 hour marathon brainless game) -- more documentaries, crash.
Work today, gym tonight. Work from home tomorrow -- Evening being mulled over. Wedding Saturday, Fathersday bbq thingy Sunday. Done & done.

Finally took a sleep med, went to bed at a reasonable time. Still groggy from playin' catchup sleep but feel infinitely better than I did yesterday. Opted out of the gym, trading it for tonight instead -- hopefully I can shake the sleep meds and actually FUNCTION tonight!
Geek notes:
- Have the game Prototype showin' up in a few days which I will utilize for my impending staycation day
- `Splosion Man looks fun and I will own this later this year
- I'm on Day 6 of the experiment where I replace Google with Bing ...Honestly? Bing is definitely superior, though I still keep the Google Toolbar since it has that thing where it guestimates your query as you type it ...though I have made Bing the home-page for my cell phone

Vow to self -- start going to bed at reasonable time ...starting today...this constant exhaustion thing is stupid.
Sunday was rather nice despite only sleeping a few hours. Only time we left the house was for bagels, watched "Ghetto TV" from the Garage (Neighbors across the street are the stereotypical, section 8, fighting, hoopty driving ghetto rollers), and, with the help of the illustrious zapkitty, bottled the reisling, bottled a beer, and transferred the cabernet I'm making.
Movies from there-on-out -- Hancock (I enjoyed it), some Simpsons, some Drawn Together, most of Hideous Kinky ... and zonked.
Tonight Gym (1/2 later than usual), tomorrow ...catch up convo-wise w/ roonie -- Weds ...um, Evil Dead the Musical? ...Thurs, workout again (hopefully remembering to order something for fathers day).
Got a wedding to go to this weekend, and a bbq/picnic thing Sunday and voila -- right back to the work week.
Oh -- totally stoked that PROTOTYPE should be showing up this week
